BUMP because of earlier Oppo issues. Tailgating season is right around the corner and it made me think, what is the best tailgating vehicle? Is it that sweet pickup truck GAS put out a few years back, or is it that van your grandpa put out to pasture a decade ago? My personal favorite are the ones made out of old ambulances. With cheap starting prices, work horse diesel engines, and tons of open space in the back its the best of everything. Also if you want to break the law, make team themed flashing lights.

in all of my years of tailgating, the 80's Country Squires are the best. No room to stand up but bring your grille, EZ up, a cooler full of beer and 6 of your buddies all along. Then when the trunk is unloaded use the 3rd seat as a lounge

I originally was thinking tailgating as in "riding someone's bumper" and I was thinking that an ambulance would be horrible, they would get out of your way before any tailgating occurred. I would say a low truck or van, nothing too lifted.

Not gonna lie - I immediately thought of any car with adaptive cruise control. Because I thought this post was about literally tail gaiting behind other drivers.

I immediately thought you meant the best car to drive really close to people's bumpers in. I was going to suggest lifted bro-truck with a brush guard and a rifle in the back.

I though tailgate season was all year because everyone's and ass. Then I realized you meant sports tailgating.
I recommend something with a tailgate.

My daily.
Last time I went to a cars and coffee, I brought the van, and some breakfast.
Best base camp, ever.
The tailgate opens to provide shade, the back seat fold down to a queen size bed for kids or passing out, the table and opposing seats create a dining room. I have a cabin battery that can run the lights and stereo all day long, leaving the main bank to start the car at the end of the day...
You can fill the roof box with corn hole boards and lawn chairs.
About 20 years ago we used to put kegs in them.
Full of the sound of the Gran Fury, signifying nothing.

One of our CAP squadrons managed to get one donated to them; they call it The Beast. Perfect vehicle for a communication base station amongst other functions. I've always wanted one, although I didn't know why.
